St. Louis CITY SC Signs Academy Forward Mykhi Joyner to MLS Homegrown Deal

Joyner is signed to the MLS NEXT Pro contract through the end of the 2024 season.

Joyner is under the MLS NEXT Pro contract through the end of the 2024 season.

St. Louis CITY SC has hired Academy forward Mykhi Joyner as Player Homegrown. Joyner is a part of the MLS NEXT Pro deal through the 2024 season’s final stretch. He’ll then become an MLS Homegrown through 2028 with an option of joining with the team in 2029. Joyner will join Caden Glover, Miguel Perez and Tyson Pearce as the club’s Homegrown signings.

CITY SC signed Joyner to an agreement to short-term loan through the team’s MLS Next Pro Team St Louis CITY2. Joyner is ready to participate in the Wednesday’s MLS game with Seattle Sounders FC at 9:30 p.m. CT at Lumen Field.

Seeing Mykhi move up to the first team is an affirmation of his dedication and effort he’s done since joining the team in 2022. “

Joyner has enjoyed a stellar time in the MLS NEXT Pro level and has helped CITY2 climb the high end of the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference table, with an 11-3-2 record. In 14 games, Joyner leads CITY2 in goals scored with nine and has also recorded assists.

Joyner scored his first goal in a professional game with CITY2’s MLS for CITY2 in the opening game in the MLS NEXT Pro debut against Tacoma Defiance in the team’s first home match of earlier seasons. Joyner scored two goals and had an assist. Bloomington, Illinois native notched two goals and one assist during his final game against LAFC2, which put him in second on the Golden Boot race. At only 17 years old, Joyner has amassed 27 games, scoring 10 goals as well as had assists for CITY2.
